In 1979 George P. Daktylides, with a background in construction, realized a lifelong dream, the opening of his first hotel in the town of Mykonos named Kohili. A decade later, realizing the increasing demand for up-scale leisure and hospitality options, he embarked on the development of a luxury hotel on the sandy beach of Platis Gialos, the 5 star Myconian Ambassador Hotel, a member of Relais & Châteaux.
In 1992 G. Daktylides founded the Myconian Collection Hotels & Resorts, committed to building a group of luxury hotels with equally unique characteristics in terms of quality, comfort and hospitality services. In 2002 the Myconian Imperial Resort and the Royal Myconian Resort joined the Collection, both recognized by Leading Hotels of the World. Located on the wonderful cliffs right above famed Elia Beach and featuring a traditional architectural style, these luxury beach resorts offer exceptional accommodations and outstanding culinary experiences.
Today, the group is run by G. Daktylides’s four sons, who brought new impetus to the business while carrying on the family’s passion for hospitality and love for the island of Mykonos. In their hands the group expanded with the addition of the Myconian Utopia Resort, a Relais & Chateaux member, and the Myconian Villa Collection, both built in the traditional Cycladic style above Elia Beach and offering amazing views and a perfect balance between high-end luxury and cutting-edge design. A new luxury hotel overlooking Elia is scheduled to join the Myconian Collection in 2014.
